 The Jing Wo Lion Dance Team has been performing in Calgary and area since the 1980's. Starting with just five adult men, it has since grown to over 25 members. The Lion Dance Team is currently comprised of a combination of children, young adults and adults ranging from ages 6 to 24, all of which are volunteers. The Jing Wo actively encourages young children to start training in Lion Dance not only as a method of exercise, but also as a catalyst to learn more about Chinese culture and all the customs and traditions involved. The Lion Dance Team is also a great place to actively meet new people and make new friends through training, discipline, and the comradeship of preparing and performing of the Lion Dance. Currently Lion Dance classes are held every Tuesday from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Classes are also free of charge, the only thing that the head coach expects is hard work and a drive to volunteer through actual performances when your schedule permits.
